How Big Should My Dining Table Be?
The right dining table size depends on the number of people you want to seat and the amount of usable space around the table.
A table can technically fit inside a room and still feel uncomfortable once chairs are pulled out. That is why this calculator considers both the table footprint and the clearance around it.
How much space should you leave around a dining table?
About 36 inches can work as a compact planning allowance. Around 42 inches gives chairs and everyday movement more breathing room, while 48 inches creates a more generous walking path.
These are planning guidelines. Always check the actual door swings, cabinets, islands, chair depth, and other furniture in your room.
